The Internet Connection Opens on Hawley Street

The Internet Connection has opened an Internet access, training and consulting center at 17 Hawley Street in Northampton, Massachusetts. The site offers free parking and is handicapped accessible.
The Internet Connection has been providing Internet training, consulting, World Wide Web home pages, information retrieval, strategic management consulting and related services primarily at customer sites since January 1995. On-customer-site services will continue but the Hawley Street location offers a convenient center for classes, consulting and Internet related computer hardware and software repair and installations. Customers may access the Internet using Internet Connection equipment or their own; and may work privately or receive assistance and/or instruction. Scanning and file conversion services are also available.
The Internet Connection is owned by Victoria A. White of Sunderland. Victoria has been providing Internet training since 1987 and has presented work on Internet accessibility issues to the Computer Ethics Institute in Washington, DC; the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council, the Massachusetts Educational Computing Consortium and the University of Massachusetts. She holds an MBA and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts and is a member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, the National Computer Security Association, Women Leaders Online, the Women Business Owner's Alliance, Northampton Chamber of Commerce and the Sunderland Zoning Board of Appeals. Current projects of The Internet Connection include "noho.com" (http://www.noho.com), the web site for Northampton. Additions to this site, which includes full information on Northampton schools, history and architecture, are being made daily.
Classes at the Hawley Street facility are beginning in January and currently include: "Introduction to the Internet"; "Writing a business plan using the Internet";"Exploring the World Wide Web"; "Finding a job using the Internet", "Intermediate level Internet" and "HTML". Classes in Amherst will continue, with "Internet for Small Business" and "The Internet for Seniors" being offered in January and February. Gift certificates for Northampton classes, as well as Internet Connection services, are currently available.
